The Uncanny Face

by Michael Arnzen ~ March 31st, 2004

It’s so simple, it’s unsettling. Dominique puts a face on your computer monitor. Sure, any large photo of a hairless, ear-less, squareheaded person gazing back at you from behind the glass will always be a little freaky. But it’s Dominique’s playful smile and glinty wink that will truly freak you out. She’s new media flesh, so be sure to tweak her features with your mouse, clicking on the skin like pinching clay, and see how uncanny she can really be. (Hint: this might make for a fun “Active Desktop” in Windows).

Arnzen, Updated

by Michael Arnzen ~ March 19th, 2004

GRAVES, MARKED
The leatherbound edition of Grave Markings: Tenth Anniversary Edition has completely sold out from the publisher (but a copy may be available through one of their booksellers, if you’re lucky). There is probably a handful of signed limited hardcover editions left, however; so if you’re interested, you better get your order in to Delirium Books now.

PEOPLE, DREAMED
Keep your eyes on The Dream People. The upcoming April issue will be an all-flash fiction edition, to celebrate the release of my collection of short-shorts, 100 JOLTS. At least one new flash story will be available on their site, too.

BONES, BARED
Also from the publisher of 100 Jolts: Bare Bone magazine, a fine anthology of horror fiction and poetry. I’m lucky enough to have a new poem, “The Ending of The Fly” on the back cover. Looking over the contents — and the way cool cover art — I think this is going to be an excellent issue! Recommended. Watch the Raw Dog Screaming Press home page for availability.

DRACO, AWARDED SHORTLY
Soon I’ll be finished adjudicating the Draco Awards for Excellence (Horror Category) sponsored by Double Dragon Press. I’ve been reading three finalist books and it’s a tough call. But if you’re curious, keep your eyes on DDP’s website. (DDP released the bonus e-book edition of Gorelets: Unpleasant Poems last October — 73 quirky little shockers for only $5.99. This one should be available on Fictionwise, eventually, too).

Jolted Again

by Michael Arnzen ~ March 2nd, 2004

Two new reviews of my new book, 100 Jolts, came in today… I’m very excited by the response this book is getting! Please take a look-see:
