Not only do I admire his breakthrough approach to challenging censorship, but the man was one of the few linguistic geniuses working in popular culture. He was a great writer and a true teacher of other comedians. Even during the last years of his life, he could recite plays on words with more wit and skill than most rap artists in their teens. And his dark comedy -- like what you find on his live albums, "You Are All Diseased" and "Life is Worth Losing" -- was unforgettably powerful. If you have never heard him, seek these out.
