Cool, @horrorbooks! My use of the Kindle will utterly depend on context. Never gonna replace a pick-up-and-read pbk or a fancy signed hc.
My kindle rating is 9.8 of 10. Maybe buzz will wear off. But it is great at doing just what I need, just like an iPod, and I’m happy!
More Kindle weaknesses: could use audio annotations (since key typing on this is thumb-stumbley). Menuing is not always intuitive.
@BlackDogNate Ain’t perfect. The page turn delay is faster than me saying ‘a thousand one’ tho, so to cavemen like me that’s half-a-second.
Kindle fun so far: listened to mp3s, read a poem via text-to-speech, annotated an essay, read a story, subscribed to local paper. IT ROCKS!
I completely understand @robertnlee . I wouldn’t say it’s ‘locked’ into the store, but the dog has a long chain tied to a post in its yard.
My new Kindle is now cluttered with all the free story samples I rqstd. Now I must port in the 500 or so fictionwise ebooks I have! :-)
Gracias! Will do, @johnpalisano!
@robertnlee You hit the ONLY concern I have, rnl…but it’s improbably they’ll make that mistake again. Plus the wireless can be shut off.
@ericrosenfield “Don’t regret not waiting for the Nook?”<- Nah. Sometimes simplicity wins. I can port most things to it that aren’t on amz.
My Kindle has arrived! Readability: AMAZING. Weight: LIGHT. Wow factor: HIGH. Arnzen is PLEASED. http://bit.ly/oU8U8
Each day I’m reading one of the complete Cruel Tales by Villiers de L’Isle-Adam. http://bit.ly/1CZo19

So: 500 followers. A good time to pause and reflect upon the long hard road of my twitterlife to regale you with nostalgic tales of …doh!
LOL @werecat1 Thanks again for following. Do the happy moon dance and when you’re done: You’ve got e-mail!
Arnzen follower #500 will win a free copy of Audiovile. Tip your buds, cuz I really don’t want to send it to BrtnyBot.
RT me @MikeArnzen: Who will be my 500th follower? Who will win a free copy of my Audiovile CD? YOU if you’re lightning fast!
Bad horror movies can teach us a lot: http://bit.ly/2TBlFq
Audio from my recent Halloween reading…3 pieces in 6 mins: suffocation, voodoo, dismemberment, more! :-) http://bit.ly/14tjxZ
@troilee Oh..you’re using Googalaboogala mail.
RT @DouglasClegg “Ah, Dexter — you gift-wrap Sunday night with your special plastic wrap.” <—LOL! (I 2’ve been watching a Dexter a day).
RT @troilee Ugh. My inbox is like the many-tentacled monster which would not die. <— “Outloocthulhu”?

Congrats @fangoriamag on your 30th year! Amazing longevity.
#oneletteroffmovies Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the sushi bar…”Raws”!
@oneletteroffmovies Terror strikes disneyworld in “Mouse of 1000 Corpses”
@ScottColbert Oddly, there were no wax dolls in my nightmares last night. But I woke up stiff and my limbs were still asleep. No…plastic!
@RPM_Editor :-) I like that!

Don’t jump @ProverbsMonster !
RT @1twistedmind “Where there is no imagination there is no horror.” - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle <— Elementary, my dear Watsonofsam!
And thank YOU @ScottColbert for that disturbing link to the deformed doll show… you owe tonight’s dreams a formal apology. Hah!
@RPM_Editor I’m all for a good device! But if Nook damages their bottom line so much that BNs brick stores go out of biz, we all lose. IMO.
Ah…it’s because I set topsy plug in up for ‘trackbacks’ not comments… Thanks for helping me clear it up @BlackDogNate and others!
Perhaps this is what it does (or I’m wrong). I thought topsy would autolink back to people’s twitter profiles not back to topsy’s pages.
@BlackDogNate — interesting. when refreshed, it added link to you on topsy. Unexpected echoes in my blog, too. I must keep trying.
And .gracias. @BlackDogNate!
@BlackDogNate Topsy yes, blog no. It shouldve posted a link to YOU right on my blog when you did that. Try again w/o bitly maybe?
Favor request: tweet a link to a SPECIFIC post on The Goreletter at http://www.gorelets.com/… ? Needed to test topsy.com integration.
@PocketGoddess I’m pretty sure you can also read legacy fictionwise.com ebooks on the Kindle, too, if you download the correct format.
Just learned: No Kindles in Canada <?!?> http://bit.ly/1c9xTy May change, but…weird. I like the foto of the worker prepping my order :-)

$20 drop/refund on the Internat’l Kindle “…will now sell at the same price as Barnes and Noble’s Nook e-reader.” http://bit.ly/4AMChg
@librarythingtim asks “Can anyone think of any ebook sources we’re missing?” Did you get fictionwise.com? I own a lot of their titles.
Just learned there is an “exclusively on the kindle” page worth bkmrking. Includes Stephen King’s UR http://bit.ly/29lqmx
Hopefully the Kindle2 Internat’l can also read/convert non-amazon texts via Calibre, just like Kindle1: http://calibre.kovidgoya…
My kindle is in transit! I’m easily pleased.
Thanks for the great feedback on the DEXTER books @APMonkey and @jensenk I had a feeling the show was better than the book…which is rare!
Are the DEXTER books any good? I know the show is based on them, but do they add anything to what I’m getting from the show?
RT @troilee Kindle-whore! ;) <- LOL…yes, it’s true. I want everyone to buy one now. And take it to read in bed.
RT @apexjason It is official, apex publications has signed gary braunbeck to a two book deal, including his last Cedar Hill novel <- Nice!
Maybe the Nook isn’t TOO bad - I’m just bitter because I ordered my new Kindle2 yesterday. I will make my ebooks avail on both, no worries.
The B&N Nook also has a ‘lend to a friend’ feature that raises my eyebrow.
The B&N NOOK doesn’t do it for me. Have to be IN a B&N to browse their ebook store on wifi? Hm. I also predict split/color screen problems.
RT@gjdowney Claim your cutesy childlike ebook reader name now. Nook and Kindle are taken. Still available: fibbersnozz and winkie-binkie.
Michael Jackson is beating Elvis in costume race 58% to 42%. I don’t trust these statistics, because the King lives! http://bit.ly/2T5Ih9
@CinemaSuicide HAH! Good Sabbath reference — “Black Browser” :-) … Now do “Browser Bloody Browser”.
And more wise advice from @jakonrath : “I broke my Kindle. In retrospect it was really stupid to save my place by folding over the corner.”
